Telcel America Reviews
TracFone, América Móvil’s U.S. division, has introduced couple of months ago a new prepaid brand called Telcel America. New MVNO offers unlimited talk, text and data in addition to unlimited calls to landlines and cell phones in Mexico for $60 a month. For those who need to make frequent calls to Mexico, Telcel America is one of the cheapest options. Telcel America offers two prepaid service plans. The $45 per month plan includes unlimited talk, unlimited domestic and international text messaging and unlimited access to web.
The $60 plan also comes with unlimited talk, domestic and international texting and access to web plus unlimited international calling to Mexico and other select destinations. TracFone’s subsidiary Straight Talk offers the same service plans as Telcel America with one exception; international texting is supported only on Android phones, which run on Sprint network.
However, for those who need to call only landlines in Mexico, Boost Mobile offers $5 per month International Connect add-on. When added on Boost’s $50 monthly plan that shrinks to $35 after 18 on-time payments, that’s a good deal. Also, PlatinumTel offers 1¢ per minute rate added to its $40 monthly plan that will hopefully remain the same when carrier switches to T-Mobile network instead of Sprint’s. MetroPCS, on the other hand, offers unlimited calling and texting to landlines in Mexico, added to $50 plan and up, for $5 per month.
New TracFone brand also sells handsets as well as support BYOD option. Handsets available at Telcel America are Android Samsung Galaxy Precedent available for $79.99 and two feature phones.
One is candy bar Motorola EX431G available for $59.99 and a flip phone Motorola W419G priced at $39.99. BYOD program allows T-Mobile GSM phones or any unlocked GSM phone.
The SIM cards are available for $14.99. Telcel America joins the other TracFone’s subsidiaries including Straight Talk, NET10 and Simple Mobile that use Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile’s network.
